Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as “laughing gas,” is commonly used to make dental treatment more comfortable. This type of sedation is inhaled through a mask and induces a state of relaxation. Local anesthetic is also administered in conjunction with nitrous oxide to eliminate pain in most cases.

IV Sedation Makes Treatment Completely Comfortable
Yet another option we’re excited about is intravenous (IV) sedation. This offers the highest level of sedation and with the fastest time to take effect. It gives us more control over the level of your sedation, which is a big advantage over simply taking a pill. Using IV sedation, most patients won’t remember their procedure and time appears to fly by. An hour appointment will literally seem like just a few minutes. The medication is administered directly into the bloodstream, producing deep sedation and an unawareness of treatment. The level of sedation is highly accurate and safe, and you’ll have no memory of your visit. This method can be used for longer appointments that involve more extensive dental work, as well as to alleviate the nervousness of anxious patients.
